9/14/18 What is Cerebral Palsy?
In my first blog I had briefly mentioned that I have a physical disability, cerebral palsy. Today I thought I would share with you, and talk about my disability. I have a physical disability called cerebral palsy. The word cerebral means = brain. The word palsy means = muscles. In other words my brain and muscles don't always work right, at times. This is due to a lack of oxygen to the brain = cerebral palsy.
Over the years I have learned to embrace my disability that this is who I am and it's okay. Yes, there was a brief moment in time where I thought why me? Then I thought there is two ways I can approach this. I can either feel sorry for myself or others pity, perhaps act helpless or maybe no one will notice I have a disability, funny huh. Or I thought this is who I am, embrace it, become as independent as I possible can and share with others so they too can have a better understanding of my disability as I do. Education is a powerful thing.
There are over 17 million people living with cerebral palsy. Not everyone living with cerebral palsy are in wheel chairs.
Here are some children that have cerebral palsy. Some of them are in wheel chairs, walkers, forearm crutches or walk independently.

When you have cerebral palsy it can effect your balance, posture and movement. With having cerebral palsy there are some great benefits. For, example every year we spread awareness about cerebral palsy. In the month of March we have National Cerebral Palsy awareness month, where we spread awareness about cerebral palsy and wear the color green all month long. There is also World Cerebral Palsy Day in October where everyone around the world comes up with ideas to help make our life a little bit easier for us.
There is also a website for World Cerebral Palsy Day. Here is the link worldcpday I also did a video for World Cerebral Palsy Day.
I also did a video for National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month.
Another benefit of having cerebral palsy is that I am very smart. Most people that have cerebral palsy have an equal IQ or higher. Each and everyone of us that have cerebral palsy can relate and understand what we go through everyday with having cerebral palsy. As cerebral palsy warriors we are here to help paint the world green 💚💚💚 and spread awareness about cerebral palsy and to help people have a better understanding of what cerebral palsy is.
I hope that you have learned a thing or two about cerebral palsy.
Remember we are all unique, different and special in our own unique ways, I love you all, see you next time.💚💚💚💚
